Legends of Afrobeat - Film

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Finally, a documentary on pop West-African dance music from the 70s, also known as Afro-Beat. A music that is far wider in scope than just FELA KUTI and TONY ALLEN. Although Baba Fela Kuti and Tony Allen are the icons of the era, there were scores of other musicians doing some funky stuff in Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Togo, etcetera.

DOUBLE U-O GLOBE (an asian film maker?), appears to have a film in the works that looks like it might tell the story of Afrobeat music without simply glorifying Fela.

Check the trailor and then the website.
