The Dark Continent

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

The mysterious source of the Nile has been discovered. The mysterious origins of ruins of Zimbabwe are no longer so mysterious. But a great portion of the Continent is still shrouded in the mystery of night fall.

Today with the power of satellite photography, we can see that the lack of technological infrastructure and subsequent electricity still mean that a great many peoples in Africa are literally in the dark.

DOING IT FOR THE PEOPLE

Monday, September 29th, 2008

As a designer, I have always believed in making well-crafted art FOR THE PEOPLE. But there is only so much, a couple of people can do fulfill that goal and still make an acceptable living without swapping hours for dollars or a major degradation of quality.

Last friday, we received a new tunnel dryer, which I see as the alchemical capstone that will completely transform my creativity and the amount of garments we can produce by eliminating a major bottle neck in our production pipeline.

Prior to friday, all of our decorative prints were manually cured piece by piece. Some large prints, took over 16 minutes to insure a quality fade resistant print, not to mention sewing, de-floss, labeling, washing and other kind of labor that is involved in making a premium product.

We’d like to thank everyone who has supported our artistic vision thus far, by enabling the business to grow to the point were we can acquire a full time studio space and industrial quality machinery to unlock our production pipeline!

What does that mean for you? Well, I am not greedy. With the printing bottleneck resolved and all of our production fully relocated from Los Angeles to New York City you will begin to see a highly competitive price point on our Electronic Boutique.

ZULU ROSE FOR THE PEOPLE, the dream is that much closer!
Kindest regards,

Alex
